Las Vegas, NV – June 27, 2012 – At the 2012 APSCU Annual Convention and Expo on June 20, the Nelnet Foundation presented the Imagine America Foundation (IAF) with a $25,000 donation for scholarships to help career college students continue their education nationwide. The donation will help fund the Promise Scholarship Program, which awards scholarships to students who show a strong dedication to their program of study through good grades and consistent attendance records.
"We are excited to make a donation to the Imagine America Foundation,” said Ben Kiser, President of the Nelnet Foundation. "With each scholarship that is awarded, a deserving student receives help paying for their career specific education or training—bringing them a step closer to reaching their educational and career goals.”
IAF awards dedicated students scholarships to help fund their career college education. Since its creation in 2002, the IAF’s Promise program has provided more than $700,000 in scholarships, which have supported more than 900 career college students across the United States. Promise scholarships are funded entirely by sponsors like the Nelnet Foundation.
“I can’t tell you how many times I hear from students who are the first in their family to go to college or are single parents going back to school to make a better life for their children. They are an inspiration to all,” said Robert L. Martin, President and CEO of the Imagine America Foundation. “We are grateful to the Nelnet Foundation for helping us provide additional financial assistance to these deserving students.”
